What is the Traditional Latin Mass?

The Traditional Latin Mass (sometimes referred to as TLM, usus antiquior, or Extraordinary Form) is the form of the Roman Rite promulgated in 1570. The Rite retained substantially the same form through its last publishing in 1962. It is the 1962 edition that is currently used as the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite throughout the Church. Where is St. Joseph's located?

St. Joseph's is located at 828 Buford Rd. Richmond, VA 23235

The parish is at the corner of Buford Rd. and W. Pinetta Dr. The main entrance to the building is to the right of the parking lot as you come in the driveway from Buford Rd. Please see the directions page for a map.

Is St. Joseph's a part of the Diocese of Richmond?

Yes, St. Joseph's is a parish in the Diocese of Richmond that is served by the F.S.S.P.

What is the F.S.S.P.?

F.S.S.P. stands for Fraternitas Sacerdotalis Sancti Petri or the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter. The F.S.S.P. is a community of Catholic priests who do not take vows, but work together toward a common mission. That mission has two parts:

  1. The formation and sanctification of priests in the cadre of the traditional liturgy of the Roman rite.
  2. The pastoral deployment of the priests in the service of the Church.
